Mother's Day Card

It's been one of those days.

So this afternoon I took a break and decided to sort and organize my "out-of-date" cards that had been piling up. You know those ones you can't part with so they get stuck here and there, in this box or
that box. That's when I came across a card that I did several years ago with the "Touch of Nature" (Stampin'Up!) stamp set. Even though we had company this evening, the image of the card kept coming to mind and I kept thinking that it would make a nice layout for a Mother's Day card, it was just too bad I didn't have a "Mother's Day" stamp.

After our company left, I finished up my last two orders for the month and submitted them to Stampin'Up! Then I decided to play around with those ideas that had been floating around all evening. I'm rather pleased with the outcome. This flower was
inspired by the Raspberry Tart designer paper and I had originally used it to make my March hostess gift.

With a dead camera battery, then technical troubles in getting this picture to upload on this blog - I'm going to miss the deadline to submit it to the SoShelli monthly challenge. But all
things considered, I have my Mother's day card done and I think she'll be happy with it.

Here's a close up showing the details of the punched flower image. Isn't it adorable?

I added the center stamens as a change from my original flower that I had put on my March hostess gift. You need to trim the points off the Snow Blossom punched flower so that all you have is the "stamen" looking points left. Then cut half way and fold it in thirds, making sure the points don't overlap.

To make the big flower:
Sponge Regal Rose from the center outwards on both sides and fold up 2 petals, attach the stamens to the center. Before attaching the flower to the Sweetest Stems embosslit, sponge lightly with Kiwi Kiss to highlight the embossing.

The bud flowers:
There are five little Trio flowers on this stem. I sponged the edges of the little Regal Rose flowers with Regal Rose ink. The one flower bud is made using two little flowers, while the other one is made using three. You will want to sponge the back edges on two of the small flowers, fold over two petals on each of them, like you did for the large flower, and attach to the third flower.

PLEASE leave a comment if you know what I'm doing wrong when I upload pictures, some can be clicked on to see larger pictures and others can't. I haven't a clue...hmmm blonde and clueless. Talk about fitting the stereotype - ha ha!

Edited May 5th to add the inspiration card and the detailed picture of flower with directions.

Our first cruise

Oh it ended too soon or it didn't end soon enough depending which one of us you ask.

Endless food and endless waves. Mixed with hurried schedules and 100+ degree days.

Some pointers:
Get those medicine patches to help with motion sickness
however don't push it and try to read.

Avoid connecting flights.

Ask someone to take pictures with you in them.

If it is listed and says you can do something on a tour,
don't mistakenly think it's included in the price of the tour,
just bring extra cash with.

I could go on but I'll say one last thing -
snorkling doesn't work well if your spouse needs glasses.

I'd like to say a special
Thank you to my Honey of a Hubby
 for putting up with everything
including the daily motion sickness.

Congratulations Scott, Andy, & Tyler

Okay, truth be told when your son quits his job to go solo (or do you call it trio?) to write programs for the iPhone and iTouch; I was concerned because of the economy.

I made this card for them, and wanted to share it with all of you, how proud we are of him and his friends. Their program is a "Staff Favorite" for the second week of the iTunes app store. You can find the Staff Favorites at the bottom of the iTunes app store page.

Way to go boys! Congrats!!!

To play the game all you do is pop (by touching) the balls and or wiggle your iPhone/iTouch to get 4 balls to touch and that's how you get points. Very easy concept, but surprisingly challenging. It's a fun game that can even be enjoyed by the young as well as the rest of us. They also have a Mac version and the version for PC's will soon be released.
